How does The Word To Go Lite work?

The Word To Go Lite runs the reading application on your handset, but grabs down the text chapeter by chapter from our server. The application uses something called "Web Protocol" similar to how the internet works. For most phones, this is pre-set up by your handset manufacturer or service provider.

However, for a few handsets or service providers, you may need to set this up yourself to be able to download the text.

Sagem phones need a profile set up in order to get network activity within the application:

O2:
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
login: mobileweb
password: password
ip address: 193.113.200.195

Vodafone
APN: internet
login: (blank)
password: (blank)

Sagem phones also keep asking to accept network connection for each page requested - set security option to 'per use' to fix this.

The Samsung E720 also needs you to disable proxy in the network settings.

Can I delete The Word To Go?

You will be able to delete The Word To Go from your phone at any time. With some Nokia phones you may need to use the application manager to delete The Word To Go.

Where can I get help on The Word To Go?

Details of how to use The Word To Go are contained in the How to Use option within the application.

Which Bible translation is used?

We've started with the classic King James Versions (KJV) and the modern English Standard Version (ESV). Our 3rd entry is the Word on the Street, which is a much more modern and poetic version for Generation X. Then we'll begin to produce foreign language versions, such as the Spanish NVI, as well as chasing other modern versions like the NIV, TNIV, TLB, AMP, Message, etc.
We also have some older classic versions that we'll make available as soon as we're able: American Standard Version (ASV), Darby's Translation (DARBY), Webster's Translation (WEBSTER), and Young's Literal Translation (YLT).

How much does it cost?

You will be charged £6.00/€9.99/$11.99 for the application. You will be charged according to the method you choose, once you finish your purchase on the pop-up menu. The download price of each build is displayed before you download it. You are also charged for the WAP/GPRS airtime rate according to your tariff to download the application. For most tariffs, this will be less than a pound/euro/dollar, although Pay As You Go types of tariffs may cost slightly more. Check with your service provider.

For The Word To Go Lite, there will be additional WAP/GPRS costs for downloading the text to your phone. The actual data-size of each chapter is smaller than 2kb (2000 bits of data), so the cost can be literally pennies, as most tariffs are charged by the Meg of data (or million bits of information). Again, Pay As You Go types of tariffs may cost slightly more.
Check with your service provider.

How long do I have it on my phone?

Once you have downloaded it, you keep it on your phone for as long as you want. If you have any problems downloading it to your phone, contact and we'll help sort you out.

What handsets can I use?

The Word To Go is designed to work on all higher memory Java phones and Series 60 equivalent handsets. Go to the handsets menu in the Version page for a full list of the handsets supported by The Word To Go.

Can I buy using SMS?

The option may be available to you, depending upon which country you are in whilst downloading. If available, the option will appear on the purchasing pop-up page.

Do I have to pay for WAP/GPRS while I am downloading a game?

You are charged at standard WAP/GPRS airtime rate according to your tariff. The Word To Go Lite also incurs some small charges for getting the text each time you use it, but with a standard tariff, this should be pennies/chapter.
Pay As You Go types of tariffs may cost slightly more. Check with your service provider.

What is WAP?

WAP means Wireless Application Protocol, a standard developed to deliver interactive services to mobile devices. WAP concentrates on efficient delivery over the relatively slow connections offered by mobile phone networks.

What is Java™?

Java 2 Micro Edition (J2Me) is specifically designed for consumer electronics products such as mobile phones and PDAs. More specifically, the J2ME platform is based on the industry standard Mobile Information Device Profile 1.0 (MIDP 1.0) which provides essential functionality to create applications for mobile phones, such as games, currency converters, street finders etc.

Java is essentially a programming language that is used to create games and applications. Some phones support downloadable Java/J2Me applications over a WAP connection. This means you can add to your phone's functionality by downloading games and applications to your handset to use whenever you want.
